WARRANTY POLICY

Business Name: Equipmart

1. Introduction

Equipmart is committed to supplying products that meet reasonable quality and performance expectations.

This Warranty Policy explains the warranty coverage applicable to products purchased through our online store, the procedure for submitting warranty claims and the responsibilities of customers.

All warranty arrangements are subject to applicable South African consumer protection legislation.

2. Statutory Consumer Warranty

In accordance with Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, qualifying goods supplied to consumers are subject to an implied warranty of quality for six months from the date of delivery.

Where goods fail to meet the applicable quality and safety requirements during this period, customers may return the affected goods at the supplier's risk and expense.

Depending on the circumstances and the customer's applicable rights, the remedy may include:

  • Repair of the defective product.

  • Replacement of the defective product.

  • Refund of the purchase price.

The appropriate remedy will be determined in accordance with applicable legislation.

Where a repaired product experiences the same or a further defect within three months after repair, the additional statutory protections under Section 56(3) may apply.

3. Manufacturer Warranties

Certain products may include an additional manufacturer's warranty.

The duration and coverage of any additional manufacturer warranty will depend on the specific product and manufacturer.

Where an additional warranty applies, relevant details will be provided in the product listing, accompanying documentation or warranty information supplied with the product.

An additional manufacturer warranty does not replace or reduce any statutory consumer rights.

4. What Is Covered

Subject to the applicable warranty and statutory provisions, coverage may include:

  • Manufacturing defects.

  • Faulty components.

  • Electrical or mechanical defects present at the time of supply.

  • Premature product failures attributable to manufacturing or material defects.

  • Products that fail to operate as reasonably intended under normal use.

Each claim will be assessed according to the nature of the product, the reported problem and applicable consumer protection requirements.

5. What May Not Be Covered by an Additional Manufacturer Warranty

Depending on the manufacturer's terms and applicable law, an additional manufacturer's warranty may exclude:

  • Damage caused by misuse or negligence.

  • Physical damage caused by accidents.

  • Damage resulting from unauthorised modification or repair.

  • Normal wear and tear.

  • Damage caused by incorrect installation or operation contrary to supplied instructions.

  • Damage caused by external events beyond the manufacturer's responsibility.

These exclusions do not remove statutory rights where a defect or failure is otherwise covered by South African consumer protection legislation.

6. How to Submit a Warranty Claim

Customers wishing to submit a warranty claim should contact Equipmart.

Please provide:

  • Full name.

  • Order number or proof of purchase.

  • Product name and model.

  • Serial number, where applicable.

  • Description of the problem.

  • Photographs or videos demonstrating the issue, where possible.

Our customer service team will review the information and advise on the next steps.

7. Warranty Assessment and Processing

Once a warranty claim has been received:

  1. We aim to acknowledge the claim within 2 business days.

  2. We may request additional information to assess the issue.

  3. Where necessary, the product may need to be inspected or referred to an authorised service provider.

  4. We will communicate the proposed remedy and any relevant arrangements.

We aim to provide an initial assessment or progress update within 5–10 business days after receiving the necessary information and, where applicable, the product for inspection.

Complex technical investigations may take longer. Customers will be informed of any significant delay.

8. Product Installation and Maintenance

Customers are encouraged to follow all supplied manufacturer instructions.

Where installation is required, it should be performed by a suitably qualified person where necessary.

Customers should also observe recommended maintenance procedures and safety requirements.

Incorrect installation or operation may affect additional manufacturer warranty coverage, subject to applicable statutory rights.

9. Warranty Transportation

Where a product qualifies for a statutory defective-goods return, the return will be handled at Equipmart's risk and expense as required by law.

For additional manufacturer warranty claims, transportation arrangements will depend on the applicable warranty terms.

Customers will be informed of any applicable transportation arrangements before being asked to incur costs.

10. Replacement Products

Where a replacement is an appropriate remedy, Equipmart will make reasonable arrangements to supply the replacement product.

Replacement availability and delivery arrangements will be communicated to the customer.

11. Warranty and Refund Rights

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any rights granted to customers under the Consumer Protection Act, Electronic Communications and Transactions Act or other applicable South African legislation.
